The painting "Emigrante" was created over the course of ten years, beginning in his home country Cuba, and concluding in 2021 following the artist's immigration to the United States. The meticulously layered oil painting captures the profound emotional journey of an immigrant, exploring themes of optimism and redemption through the portrayal of a luminous horizon starkly contrasted by a somber seascape, conveying the sorrow associated with leaving behind one's home and the resulting sense of alienation and detachment from one's surroundings while tackling the challenges of embracing a new cultural identity.
